TELL US A LITTLE BIT MORE ABOUT YOU?
I was born and raised in Rock Hill, SC heavily involved in the community between sports, camps, church and school in my youth. I attended Furman University in Greenville, SC where I graduated with a Business degree & played wide receiver for the Furman Football team. After graduating, I accepted a position with The Teague Group (Charlotte, NC). I followed my then hiring manager to Navigon Financial Group (Charlotte, NC) for a few years before ultimately making the leap of faith to start my own wealth management firm, King Wealth Partners. During these past 6 years, I married my best friend, Alison King, adopted 2 pugs, Weezy & Leo, and have been blessed with two boys, “Little Will” (age 3.5) and Dallas (age 1.5). Today, I enjoy spending time with my family, coaching football at my prior high school, serving on the board for Early Learning Partnership, attending North Rock Hill Church, helping others with their financial future and exploring different cities, states and climates. I like to play golf & talk trash in our Fantasy Football league. I am always eager to learn more, discover more and experience more in all aspects of life. I’ve learned many lessons & life skills through sports & personal experiences and I’m passionate about sharing those experiences with others. I’m incredibly blessed to be where I am today & thank our good Lord for his hand on my life.
DURING YOUR TIME VOLUNTEERING FOR A COMMUNITY ACTIVITY OR PROJECT, WHAT IS YOUR MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT?
I currently Volunteer coach for our local high school football team, Northwestern High School. It’s been an adjustment going from playing football myself to coaching other young men. There have been many “déjà vu” moments or “if I knew back then what I know now” scenarios that make me realize the important role we as coaches play in a young athlete’s life – I certainly remember the coaches who impacted my life as a teenager. Through volunteering, I wouldn’t say it’s been one standout moment but rather a collection of small gratifying scenarios where I can see the development and maturity growing in these young men. Understanding that not all days are ideal, not all reps are perfect, a teammate will let you down, a coach will chew you out, you will lose a battle or 2, but it’s about what they learn through the process that ultimately will make them a better person & hopefully successful in life. The reality is that maybe a handful will have the opportunity to play at the next level – what are we doing to better position them for life outside of football is something I constantly reflect on. Some have the family structure at home to help, others don’t. To be an integral part in their lives as a mentor & coach both on the field & off is both special & my opportunity to help the next generation of young men.
IN YOUR OPINION, HOW DO YOU CONTRIBUTE TO THE COMMUNITY? PLEASE BE AS DETAILED AS YOU CAN.
There are so many ways to be involved within your community. As mentioned above, one of my most passionate contributions back to the community is my involvement in high school football. There is so much more reward than simply coaching these young men. There is an opportunity to guide, protect, advise and educate these young men not only on the field but in all aspects of life. I serve on the board for the non-profit, Early Learning Partnership. Most of a child’s development for learning how to read & write forms by the age of 5. Our mission is to help serve those children who don’t have the opportunity otherwise to read a book & further their education. It’s our hope to provide as many children as possible with a book of their own. In having young children, I see the importance of education at early ages in life. I’m a member of the York Country Regional Chamber where I seek to connect local businesses & engage with our local communities. I also serve as President for the Condo Owner’s Association for the office complex at Millwood. Lastly, I’m afforded the opportunity each & every day to make an impact in the lives of our clients. We are entrusted with the life savings of many families & small business owners – it’s our responsibility to not only be a good steward of the funds we manage, but to also help those client’s make educated decisions around their day to day finances. This is a responsibility I do not take lightly & believe our efforts in each of our client’s lives will enable them to reach their life’s goals & aspirations. In every capacity, it’s my personal mission to give 100% to further the initiatives at hand. Giving back is extremely important to our family & investing in our community’s future is something we will look back on with pride.
PLEASE LET US KNOW ANY AWARDS OR RECOGNITIONS YOU’VE RECEIVED IN YOUR PROFESSIONAL CAREER:
As an independent business owner for most of my career, company level awards have been unavailable. However, during my time at Navigon Financial, I was awarded “Presidents Club” in 2015 for young advisors making an impact across the nation for Penn Mutual. The recognitions I value most come from the people I help serve, our clients & other professionals in our community. I’m constantly competing against myself for never-ending improvement & the satisfaction of the families who partner with us. Awards and recognitions (whether professionally or athletically in my life) are important bursts of support & motivation, but the relationships built along the way are what I hold closest to heart.

WHERE DO YOU SEE YOURSELF IN 5 YEARS? 10 YEARS?
As a young professional, in 5 years I hope to continue expanding upon what I’ve accomplished thus far. By no means am I content or complacent in any facet of my life. Spiritually, Personally & Professionally I would like to grow over these next 5 years. My walk-in faith is paramount & continuing to grow my relationship with Christ is a priority. I would like to say in 5 years that my relationship with Him has matured, that our family is more consistent in attending church & that our children grow to love Him. Personally, I would like to be in a place where my family comes first in the work/life balance dilemma & that my presence in my wife & children’s life is unquestioned, by them specifically. Professionally I would like to continue helping clients prepare financially & capitalize on most if not all of our company’s goals & vivid vision we’ve set for ourselves. I’ve hired an office manager, Morgan Smith, recently & hope she will be able to help us expand into areas untouched at this point in my career. Growing is important but remaining focused on current clients is something I hope I will never lose sight of.
What I envisioned just a year ago has changed significantly as time has passed, looking out 10 years from now is challenging to fathom. The speed of change in our lives right now is simply incredible. I hope to be recognized as an industry leader, a community leader, and family leader. I hope I will have developed many more friendships, business relationships & started to see the fruits of our labor pay off. I would love to be in the position to reach out & help the next Will King get started in our industry & pour into their future. I’ve had many mentors & life coaches pour into my life & I would be grateful for the opportunity to do the same. I pray that I’m healthy & able to grow with my children every step of the way. Our oldest son would be turning a teenager (scary) & the challenges associated with this stage of life are hard to comprehend now, but I believe my wife & I will be ready for it!
