WHERE WERE YOU BORN?
HOW LONG HAVE YOU LIVED IN CHARLOTTE AREA?
TELL US A LITTLE BIT MORE ABOUT YOU?
I love to travel so I’m always down for any adventure. I am very passionate about putting an end to human trafficking. I love kids and have a hope to help them grow up in an environment where they can know their true beauty and also where it comes from. I believe that changing a community happens one conversation, collaboration, and sacrifice at a time. I believe that at the core of all the good we do, nothing truly matters if we are not doing for something beyond ourselves and for me, that is God. I lead a group of women through my church on Thursday nights but sometimes they just lead me. I have a God-daughter who is 3 and she is my whole world. I love anything flavored with honey and lavender, my favorite wine is Chianti, and I spend a majority of my paycheck at Luna’s living kitchen. If i had to pick another path in a different life, it would be yoga. I believe beauty starts on the inside and spills out in every other areas of our lives.
DURING YOUR TIME VOLUNTEERING FOR A COMMUNITY ACTIVITY OR PROJECT, WHAT IS YOUR MOST MEMORIAL MOMENT?
It’s so hard to pick just one. I have had several amazing experiences but one of my favorites was when I was doing the hair of a girl who had been rescued from the sex trafficking world. She asked me for hair that I did not consider beautiful, but I knew it was important to her to have rainbow hair. And so I did it. Afterwards, she teared up, gave me a big hug, and said “Thank you for listening. I’ve never felt more beautiful, and no one has ever really listened to ME!” She also sent me the sweetest card and thanked me again. It has just stuck with me that so many times we don’t really hear people’s hearts. She truly changed the way I listen. I thought I was blessing her. Instead it was she who blessed me.
IN YOUR OPINION, HOW DO YOU CONTRIBUTE TO THE COMMUNITY?
Honestly, by holding back from honking in rush hour traffic, everyone should try it!
WHAT ARE YOUR HOBBIES OR INTEREST?
Owning a business sometimes you forget that you’re supposed to do anything besides work. I think my business is my hobby. But if I do have free time I love yoga, hiking, live music, and traveling. (But somehow that always turns into work too!).
