Position: Founder & Owner
WHERE WERE YOU BORN?
HOW LONG HAVE YOU LIVED IN CHARLOTTE AREA?
TELL US A LITTLE BIT MORE ABOUT YOU?
I grew up in a military family and lived in Fayetteville, NC almost my whole life, which is surprising with us being military. I moved to Charlotte for college and graduated from UNCC with a degree in music education. After college I taught private music lessons full time. Being self-employed was awesome. I didn’t know it at the time but it was preparing me for what came next – AerialCLT.
DURING YOUR TIME VOLUNTEERING FOR A COMMUNITY ACTIVITY OR PROJECT, WHAT IS YOUR MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT?
Sadly I don’t get to spend any time volunteering. AerialCLT keeps me insanely busy. The studio adopts a charity every quarter, though and we do an item/cash drive. A really cool moment was when we were collecting items for Turning Point (a women’s shelter) and when they came to pick up the items, they had to make two trips in their van to gather all the items.
IN YOUR OPINION, HOW DO YOU CONTRIBUTE TO THE COMMUNITY?
I see AerialCLT as my contribution to the community. Our students gain so much strength inside and out, self-confidence, inspiration, etc. from our classes. I feel like in a way we bring people back to life.
WHAT ARE YOUR HOBBIES OR INTEREST?
Well, aerial was my hobby and we can all see where that went… I love to garden, paint, build things, and I also make preserved flower jewelry (@dancingthistles via Instagram for those who are curious.).
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE QUOTE THAT YOU STAND BY?
“Inspiration seldom leads to action but action always leads to inspiration.” I don’t remember where I heard this or who said it, but I love it. This has reignited my flame many of times when I just felt burned out and unmotivated.
WHERE DO YOU SEE YOURSELF IN 5 YEARS?
Hopefully doing more of exactly what I’m doing now. I find a tremendous amount of happiness and gratification every day through my work with AerialCLT.
CAN YOUR SHARE ONE THING THAT IS ON YOUR BUCKET LIST?
I actually don’t have one…. if there is something that I’m really passionate to do, I make that happen. No sense sitting on a list that you’ll eventually get to. Do it now. Plus, good grief I do not need another list in my life.
WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU USED YOUR PASSPORT?
2015, my husband and I went to Spain and France. Part for a work conference for him but also to see the Millau Viaduct, which has been a dream of his (he is an engineer…).
WHAT IS A FUN FACT ABOUT YOURSELF THAT NO ONE KNOWS?
I was a band geek. In High school, I played flute in the wind ensemble and marched trombone and baritone for 2 years in the marching band.
WHO IS YOUR HERO?
My momma. I’m really not trying to be sappy, here. She taught me to be self sufficient, strong in my convictions and that there is always a solution to any problem, no matter who is standing in your way or telling you no.
WHAT WAS THE LAST BOOK YOU READ?
‘From Good to Great” I find myself reading a lot of business books these days…
WHAT WAS THE LAST MOVIE YOU SAW?
In theaters, it was Rogue One.
WHAT WAS THE LAST CONCERT YOU SAW?
Well this is embarrassing, I can’t even remember!
