TELL US A LITTLE BIT MORE ABOUT YOU?
I’ve always been curious about how things work, uncomfortable with the status quo, and hungry to make an impact on the people and communities around me. I naturally gravitated towards entrepreneurship for those reasons.
DURING YOUR TIME VOLUNTEERING FOR A COMMUNITY ACTIVITY OR PROJECT, WHAT IS YOUR MOST MEMORIAL MOMENT?
Growing up, I was incredibly close with my grandparents and was fortunate enough to have them live right down the street. My grandpa became very ill and required dozens of blood transfusions. As I matured and realized just how many units of blood he went through before he passed, I decided I wanted to donate the 50+ units of blood back to the American Red Cross over the course of my life. I first started donating when I was 15 years old, chipping away one unit at a time.
When I transferred to a different high school my junior year, I quickly learned there was no relationship with the Red Cross and no blood drives held on campus. By the time I graduated my high school held tri-annual blood drives and we had collected over 1,000 units of blood. I’ll never forget the moment we held our first multi-day drive and collected 60 units on the first day, surpassing the 50 I pledged I would donate back in my grandfather’s memory.
IN YOUR OPINION, HOW DO YOU CONTRIBUTE TO THE COMMUNITY?
One of my favorite things about entrepreneurship is that it creates value. When we first started 16 months ago it was just Dan and I. Now we have 35 employees. That’s 35 individuals that now have steady jobs and money to feed their families, go on dates, and enjoy what Charlotte has to offer.
I’m also amazed by the over 500,000 hours we’ve given back to our customers. That’s a half a million hours our customers are now spending with their families, learning a new hobby, or simply relaxing and enjoying life.
WHAT ARE YOUR HOBBIES OR INTEREST?
I enjoy backpacking, watching movies, and building things.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE QUOTE THAT YOU STAND BY?
“You don’t ask, you don’t get.” It amazes me how much you can accomplish just by trying, asking, or simply showing up.
WHERE DO YOU SEE YOURSELF IN 5 YEARS?
