The new event series from Rugged Races will debut in several new cities nationwide on Halloween weekend
The inaugural Charlotte Costume Dash 5k/10k is coming to the South End of Charlotte this Halloween. Last year’s debut Costume Dash race in Boston saw thousands of runners fly through the heart of the city while fully decked-out in their craziest Halloween costumes, and on Saturday, October 29th the fun is hitting the South for the first time.
The new event series is being brought to the city by Rugged Races, the company behind the wildly popular Rugged Maniac Obstacle Race series, which also held a 6,000-person event Rockingham Motor Speedway earlier this year.
In 2014, Rugged Races CEO Brad Scudder and COO Rob Dickens enjoyed a successful appearance on Shark Tank, attracting a large investment from Mark Cuban. This has allowed Rugged Races to not only expand Rugged Maniac coast to coast and into Canada, but also launch the Costume Dash series in multiple cities, including San Francisco, Boston, Philadelphia, and Chicago, with many more locations planned for 2017.
“Our goal is to entice as many people as possible to get off their couches and do something active with their weekends, and the best way to do that is by creating fun and unique experiences like Costume Dash,” said Dickens. “After the success of last year’s inaugural event in Boston we knew we had another hit on our hands, and we can’t wait to spread the fun to other cities across the country.”
The race will start at 8:30 a.m. with starting and finishing line of the loop course located atInside Out Sports (1514 South Church Street), where prizes will also be awarded for the best costumes and top finishers at an awards ceremony post-race. The fun continues after the run with an after-party at some of Charlotte’s best bars for runners 21 and over.
Runners ages 10 and up can register online at CostumeDash.com through October 26. Registration is $25 for early sign ups until August 26, $35 until September 30, and $45 until October 26. All runners will receive their own bib and a finisher medal at the finish line. For further information, email Costume Dash at firstname.lastname@example.org.
