WHERE WERE YOU BORN?

Cobleskill, NY

HOW LONG HAVE YOU LIVED IN CHARLOTTE AREA?

10 years.

TELL US A LITTLE BIT MORE ABOUT YOU?

I grew up in rural upstate NY. After high school, our family decided to move to Charlotte. A combination of superior weather, increased career opportunities and an overall better quality of life made me excited to make the move. I attended UNCC, graduating with a degree in Finance (with a concentration in risk management and insurance). I was blessed to land a job with a phenomenal company (Movement Mortgage/Movement Insurance) out of college, and haven’t looked back.

DURING YOUR TIME VOLUNTEERING FOR A COMMUNITY ACTIVITY OR PROJECT, WHAT IS YOUR MOST MEMORIAL MOMENT?

My most memorable moment came from being a “Big brother”. Watching my brother walk across the stage to become the first person in his family to ever graduate high school was something truly special. We remain close friends and talk almost on a daily basis. He now is serving in the Army reserves, and has a job mentoring youth – and I couldn’t be more proud of him.

IN YOUR OPINION, HOW DO YOU CONTRIBUTE TO THE COMMUNITY?

Through work: I’ve helped over 3,000 Charlotte (and extended areas) residents in their home buying process – by assessing their insurance needs, educating them on different coverage options and implementing policies to protect, for most of them, the single largest investment they will ever make. Buying a home can be a stressful time in peoples lives, and I work my hardest to make sure the insurance component of buying a property is take care of, and that they understand what they are purchasing from me and why it is important.

Through play: I’m very active in the Charlotte/Carolina sports scene. I attend many local games/events and enjoy sharing the experience with other fans, whether in person or through Instagram (Carolina.KJ). I also make it a priority to meet up with other like-minded individuals for coffee/drinks once a month. There is so much young talent across all industries in Charlotte. So whether it’s sharing thoughts and advice, or making a life time friend, I’ve always relished getting to know new people in the city.

PLEASE LET US KNOW ANY AWARDS OR RECOGNITIONS YOU’VE RECEIVED IN YOUR PROFESSIONAL CAREER:

WHAT ARE YOUR HOBBIES OR INTEREST?

I purchase season tickets every year and haven’t missed a Panthers game in the 10 years I’ve been in Charlotte. I’m a huge Tarheel and Hornets fan as well. I play rec basketball and golf as much as possible. Besides that, I love going to church, and spending time with friends and family exploring Charlotte. I’ve also always had an entrepreneurial spirit. I started a real estate holdings company, buying my first house when I was 22. I’ve since acquired three more rental properties, all in south Charlotte.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE QUOTE THAT YOU STAND BY?

“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” – Philippians 4:13

WHERE DO YOU SEE YOURSELF IN 5 YEARS? 10 YEARS?

Every day I try to be a better me than I was the day before. I’ve fallen in love with Charlotte and can’t picture myself being anywhere else. I hope to still be with Movement Mortgage/Movement Insurance. Their company culture, and priorities of God, Family, Community and Business in that order align perfectly with my beliefs. I’m going to continue to become more involved volunteering and giving back to the community that has already given so much to me. I also hope to add five to ten rental properties to my portfolio – continuing to purchase one a year here in Charlotte.

CAN YOUR SHARE ONE THING THAT IS ON YOUR BUCKET LIST?

I crossed two items off my bucket list recently. I took a trip to San Francisco and went to Super Bowl 50 to see the Panthers. The outcome wasn’t what I wanted, but the experience was still incredible. I also, took a trip to Phoenix and saw the Tarheels men’s basketball team win the 2017 National Championship.

WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU USED YOUR PASSPORT?

I traveled to Peru with my Father. We took the Hiram Bingham train through the Sacred Valley to our final destination, where we hiked to the top of Machu Picchu. It was absolutely incredible and a trip I was very blessed to go on.

WHAT IS A FUN FACT ABOUT YOURSELF THAT NO ONE KNOWS?

I have a Pomeranian named Dozer. He enjoys brewery hopping, playing fetch, and a good belly rub.

WHO IS YOUR HERO?

Hands down my parents. They are the two most loving, encouraging, supportive and selfless human beings I know. They are my best friends. They have given their lives to make sure I have the best life possible. Without them, I wouldn’t be half the man I am today.
