Runger Games at NoDa
September 30 @ 6:30 pm
Runger Games return to NoDa! This means the time has come to select 4 courageous runners for each District to compete in this year’s RUNger Games!
So we ask, who will volunteer as tribute at the RUNger Games of NoDa?! Form teams of 4, then before we begin, you’ll choose your District and prepare for the Battle Royale to find out who will be the ultimate victor! Compete in 3 games to fight for your District’s win!
The 3 challenges your District will face are:
1. A 1 mile race to kick off the games – points for each member of your team can be earned!
2. 3 mile and 5 mile race – ALL members of your District will participate in this event by running either the 3 or the 5 mile route (you choose your distance). Points will be awarded to all the finishers depending on the order in which they finish their respective distances.
3. FLIP CUP for the final challenge! All members from each District will play Flip Cup to add to your final score and determine who will be the RUNger Games Victor!
This year there are opportunities to earn bonus points for your team which will go towards your final score! Anyone who comes in costume will earn one bonus point per person for their team, so if all four of you dress up, that’s 4 bonus points!
Also, somewhere along the route, Katniss shot and lost her arrow. If you find it, that’s 5 bonus points for your team’s final score!
The Victorious District will receive a fantastic prize pack from NoDa Brewing Company, and second and third place Districts will also receive fun prizes from NoDa.
Compete in the Games or simply join us for a 1, 3 or 5 mile hop, skip, run or jump around the NoDa NE Neighborhood starting and ending at the NoDa Brewing Company taproom! All levels of runners are welcome, and there are printed out routes as well as spray painted arrows along the way to help guide you. Bring your headlamps, flashlights, and reflective gear this week!!! It is getting dark much earlier and even though you start your run in the light, you’ll most likely end in the dark.
As always, make sure to use proper running etiquette through the neighborhoods. Look both ways, let cars pass before you cross busy roads, and run to the left hand side of the road so you can see oncoming traffic and move out of the way accordingly. And don’t forget your reflective gear so cars can see you!
