WHERE WERE YOU BORN?
HOW LONG HAVE YOU LIVED IN CHARLOTTE AREA?
TELL US A LITTLE BIT MORE ABOUT YOU?
Currently live in the Ballantyne area, been in Charlotte since I graduated college in 2011. Received my bachelor’s degree from Simmons College in Boston where I played collegiate softball. I am originally from MA and try and go up there to visit about 5-6x a year. Currently pursuing a Masters in Communication from App State. Working full time and taking online classes is tough!
DURING YOUR TIME VOLUNTEERING FOR A COMMUNITY ACTIVITY OR PROJECT, WHAT IS YOUR MOST MEMORIAL MOMENT?
In college, I volunteered to be a camp leader/coach at some of the summer camps we offered over the summer. The best moment I can recall is having one of the campers tell me that they could not shoot a basketball and make it into the hoop. I worked with that child every day and on the final day of camp, she was able to score. She cried because she was so happy and she hugged me and thanked me for teaching her how to do it. I’ll never forget that moment.
IN YOUR OPINION, HOW DO YOU CONTRIBUTE TO THE COMMUNITY?
I set a goal for myself last year to do at least one volunteer or nonprofit event every quarter and I’ve been able to live up to it currently. I participate in some of the Girls on the Run events and try to carve out a few volunteer opportunities with the American Heart Association- Charlotte Chapter. It’s important to stay current and read up on what is going on within our community so every morning I spend about an hour reading various news outlets about what is happening with the Charlotte community. Sounds small and somewhat nerdy but reading up on our community and staying involved is so important.
PLEASE LET US KNOW ANY AWARDS OR RECOGNITIONS YOU’VE RECEIVED IN YOUR PROFESSIONAL CAREER:
I sit on the Board of Advisors for NC Tech. While I worked at Spectrum Enterprise, I received the “comeback player” award for 2016, highlighting my sales performance with the company and was able to attain over 100% over quota for the year.
WHAT ARE YOUR HOBBIES OR INTEREST?
I play rec league softball at park road park. I also go to some of the Work for Your Beer events throughout town and I tend to frequent orange theory in Ballantyne with a few of my girlfriends. Anything wine related is also high on my list of hobbies.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE QUOTE THAT YOU STAND BY?
“Nothing will work unless you do.” – Maya Angelou
WHERE DO YOU SEE YOURSELF IN 5 YEARS? 10 YEARS?
I’ve been blessed with having a few mentors throughout my short professional year and I can’t thank them enough for giving me guidance and helping me get to where I am today. Because of that, I hope to continue that someday and be in a position where I can be someone’s mentor. In 5 years, I still want to be in technology. This field is forever changing and it’s exciting to see where it goes. I hope to be in a position where I can continue to learn the technical side of the business but also coach and guide a team of folks within the company. That’s my goal.
CAN YOUR SHARE ONE THING THAT IS ON YOUR BUCKET LIST?
Cubs game at Wrigley field!
WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU USED YOUR PASSPORT?
This month actually! I am taking my 83-year-old grandmother to Sao Miguel in the Azores. Most people don’t know where that is…. it’s an island off the coast of Portugal (about 900 miles). She and I will be there exploring the island for 5 days and have a goal to have at least one glass of local wine a day (her request).
WHAT IS A FUN FACT ABOUT YOURSELF THAT NO ONE KNOWS?
I hate ice cream cones! Give me a cup of ice cream and I’m happy…but no cones!
WHO IS YOUR HERO?
My grandmother or Nannie is what I call her. She never stops moving, learns something new every day, can whip up a meal for 10 people in about 20 minutes and is the life of the party. I love her energy, her whit, her love and ability to be the chief of our family. Anyone that has met her would say the same thing.
