Ashley Nicole Strickland
Position: HR Generalist
WHERE WERE YOU BORN?
HOW LONG HAVE YOU LIVED IN CHARLOTTE AREA?
TELL US A LITTLE BIT MORE ABOUT YOU?
I was born and raised a few miles north of Charlotte in Concord, NC, where I attended 12 years of schooling in the private and public education school system and graduated from UNCC as a Psychology major. As a native of Concord, it is well known that my hometown is known for its passion of speed. As a young girl, I remember travelling with my father to different race tracks throughout the Southeast where he would drag race. It was only natural that I continued the Strickland family legacy behind the wheel of a drag car. Santa delivered my first race car at the age of 7. I dabbled in racing a little for a few years but started racing every weekend and on a points structure at the age of 10. Throughout the last 17 years, I have accomplished many accolades and titles, many of where I was among the very few females in the class, and one of the youngest competitors. At the ripe age of 27, I have two NHRA (National Hot Rod Association) track championships, 3 track championship runner up finishes, IHRA (International Hot Rod Association) Rookie of the Year award, and numerous other race wins and high points finishes. Throughout juggling school, work and a race schedule, I also competed in volleyball on the national level throughout middle and high school which landed my first college scholarship. I started school in Virginia and transferred to UNCC after completing 2 years, where I graduated in 2015 with my Bachelors of Science in Psychology. My dream career field was always Human Resources and I am grateful to have had the opportunity to start my HR career in Charlotte, NC at a large media group. I now work for one of the most well-known companies worldwide where I am able to use my degree on a daily basis and ensure your smiley face boxes are delivered well within the 2 day Prime guarantee!
DURING YOUR TIME VOLUNTEERING FOR A COMMUNITY ACTIVITY OR PROJECT, WHAT IS YOUR MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT?
As an Amazonian, our company prides itself in community service. As an HR member of a Charlotte Amazon facility, I pride myself in being a community activist. Most recently, I have made the connection with Levine’s Children Hospital and Amazon and have started a relationship that allows Amazon, specifically my building, the opportunity to involve our associates in community and volunteer events with Levine’s. In addition, I have successfully completed the first annual Amazon health fair in October 2018 and am in progress of organizing the second annual Amazon Health Fair which is taking place on September 25.
IN YOUR OPINION, HOW DO YOU CONTRIBUTE TO THE COMMUNITY? PLEASE BE AS DETAILED AS YOU CAN.
When it comes to community contribution, there are so many avenues one can take. For me, I have volunteered with animal shelters, local children’s hospitals, conducted school supply drives, health fairs, etc. However, I also pride myself in being a community contributor by being a positive role model for other young women that want to be successful in a male dominated sport.

WHERE DO YOU SEE YOURSELF IN 5 YEARS? 10 YEARS?
In 5 years, I plan to still be in the Human Resource career field and living in the Charlotte area. I still plan on racing on the national level for the foreseeable future. My 10 year plan includes being a HR manager of VP of HR at a Fortune 500 company, still hopeful to live in the Charlotte and surrounding areas, and continuing to drag race. In addition, in 10 years, I hope to be successful enough to be a financial contributor to Levine’s Children Hospital or have my own nonprofit organization.
