Downtown Alpharetta will explode in full color this Memorial Day Weekend as nearly 100 artists from around the U.S. showcase their imaginative works at Alpharetta Arts Streetfest, May 26-28, 2018. This colorful festival is free to the public and includes live jazz and acoustical music, cultural arts performances, children’s activities and festival cuisine.
Festival lovers and art enthusiasts from around the Southeast will enjoy three days of strolling through outdoor galleries filled with fine paintings, mixed media, photography, pottery, jewelry, textile, glass, wood, metal and paper art. After browsing the amazing art, take a break to enjoy a variety of festival favorites at one of the many food vendors, or stop in to one of the many restaurants throughout downtown to enjoy Alpharetta’s local cuisine. The event will be located on Milton Avenue between Main Street and Roswell/Canton Street with parking available at the City Hall Parking Deck and various street parking locations around downtown Alpharetta.
“We are excited to welcome artists from around the U.S. to showcase their creativity and talent to our community” said Janet Rodgers, President and CEO of the Alpharetta Convention and Visitors Bureau. “This incredible three-day weekend event is filled with culture, food and activities for the whole family. We invite visitors and people who are passionate about the arts to come to Alpharetta, stay the weekend and experience all the city has to offer.”
Plan to stay the weekend to explore other activities and attractions in Alpharetta. Stop by Food Truck Alley XL on Thursday, May 24, for cuisine from a variety of food trucks. This weekly gathering is a locals’ favorite, featuring 6-8 rotating food trucks and live music starting at 5:30pm. Be sure to stroll through Brooke Street Park to discover seven sculptures from internationally known artists that make up the temporary Miscellany open-air gallery. The seven pieces were selected from an international call for artists and will be on display through December 2018. In addition, the City’s permanent public art collection has recently grown to include works by Georgia artists Michael Dillon, Gregory Johnson, Marc Moulton, Duke Oursler, and Deanna Sirlin.
Get in touch with your inner-artist and create your own masterpiece at one of Alpharetta’s art-inspired attractions. Paint with friends while sipping your glass of wine and enjoy a group led class at Painting With a Twist, or for the solo-minded artists, design your own one-of-a-kind pottery pieces at All Fired Up.
