WHERE WERE YOU BORN?
Charlotte, North Carolina
HOW LONG HAVE YOU LIVED IN CHARLOTTE AREA?
I have lived here my entire life, 26 years.
TELL US A LITTLE BIT MORE ABOUT YOU?
Born in Charlotte, North Carolina and raised only 30 short minutes across the river in Belmont and Cramerton, North Carolina. I was really involved in sports growing up. My favorite sports were basketball and paintball. In school I received the “Principles Award” for most outstanding student, “Best Personality” senior superlative and Homecoming Queen for South Point High School. After high school I went on to Gaston College to get my Associate Degree in General Education. After graduation, still not knowing what career path to take, I enrolled in Real Estate school. Little did I know, that it would change my life and become a career that I love. After receiving my Real Estate License, I started working for NewStyle Communities as a sales consultant and also Giving Tree Realty where I have been able to find homes for over 35 families, totaling over $12,000,000.00 in Real Estate sales. Joining Giving Tree Realty has given me the opportunity to give back to the community in that a portion of the commission from every transaction goes a charity of my choosing, which is Holy Angels in Belmont, North Carolina. I also volunteer at Holy Angels various times throughout the week. Holy Angels provides specialized, around the clock, care for children and adults with intellectual development disabilities and delicate medical conditions in an environment that fosters loving and compassionate care. They have become family to me.
DURING YOUR TIME VOLUNTEERING FOR A COMMUNITY ACTIVITY OR PROJECT, WHAT IS YOUR MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT?
Every year around Christmas I visit South Haven Long Term Care and Heritage Oaks Assisted Living in Gastonia, North Carolina to hand out Christmas cards and $1 to each resident. The people that live in these facilities do not have families nor anyone to visit them. The card doesn’t seem like much but for the 100+ residents this is the only gift that most of them will get for the holidays. The $1 is for a visit to the vending machine that sits in the front lobby. Some of them wait all year to get the perfect snack with their Christmas money. Seeing their faces light up when I leave and the hugs that I get for such a small thing is like nothing else and I am so thankful to be able to do that for them.
IN YOUR OPINION, HOW DO YOU CONTRIBUTE TO THE COMMUNITY? PLEASE BE AS DETAILED AS YOU CAN.
My time volunteering with Holy Angels has been life changing. Sometimes we get stuck in our everyday routine and forget that we can make a difference, big or small, in our community and in the lives of the people around us. For many years I focused on myself and my career then I realized in order for me to genuinely be happy I needed to take a step back and figure out what I could do to help others. Growing up, I helped at the spring and winter Special Olympics and I also helped in the special needs classes at my high school. Now, years later, becoming a part of the Holy Angels family is be the best decision I could ever make! I volunteer in Area 1 with children ranging in ages from 2 to 18 and they have truly become a part of my family. They have taught me that life is greater than the problems that we think we have. They have taught me to look at the world different and to smile even when I am having a bad day. The Holy Angels staff know that I am just a call away to read the children books at night, to do arts and crafts or movie days whenever they are short staffed. I love to pop in just to go see their smiles and to dance them around in their wheelchairs. I try my best to be a helping hand to anyone that needs me to be in the community. Sometimes I don’t know who helps who more, me helping the children or the children helping me!
WHAT ARE YOUR HOBBIES OR INTEREST?
When I am not at work or volunteering at Holy Angels, I love spending time riding my dirt bike, hanging out with my friends, family and my dog, Scuba Steve!
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE QUOTE THAT YOU STAND BY?
“Be someone who makes everyone feel like someone“
WHERE DO YOU SEE YOURSELF IN 5 YEARS? 10 YEARS?
I was able to purchase my first house at age 25. I have been blessed with two amazing jobs that have allowed me to save up enough money to be able to pay my home off next year. Once I have paid my house off, I hope within five years to add commercial real estate to my portfolio. Following that, my goal to continue to work hard in the same wonderful industry and to adopt a child from Holy Angels with special needs.

I am pretty much and open book, but I can do a mean moonwalk with the right socks! Haha!
