I was raised in Rural Hall, a small town near Winston-Salem, where I lived until moving to UNC-Greensboro where I completed a BS in Human Nutrition and Dietetics in 2010. From there, I moved to New Bern, NC for East Carolina University’s dietetic internship and later finished my MS in Clinical Nutrition in 2012. I returned to Greensboro for my first job as a Clinical Dietitian with Cone Health System before accepting a position with Charlotte’s Carolinas Medical Center in 2012. Growing up, I always enjoyed cooking and was interested in wellness but knew I also wanted to help people. It took 2 1⁄2 years of college before I discovered the role of a ‘dietitian’ and realized that is exactly what I was meant to do with my life. Now, as co-owner of Transcend Nutrition Counseling, we speak at events, provide on-site corporate wellness counseling, offer personalized nutrition counseling, conduct metabolic fitness testing, grocery store tours, meal planning, and recipe modification. When I am not working, I love staying physically active at the White Water Center, local parks, or with Females in Action. My fitness peaked with the help of FiA and 2015 was a year of firsts: 10K, obstacle race, and half-marathon.
DURING YOUR TIME VOLUNTEERING FOR A COMMUNITY ACTIVITY OR PROJECT, WHAT IS YOUR MOST MEMORIAL MOMENT?
Witnessing the moment a child makes the connection between a nutritious diet and a healthy lifestyle is one of my most memorial moments.
IN YOUR OPINION, HOW DO YOU CONTRIBUTE TO THE COMMUNITY?
I contribute to the community through Carolinas Healthcare System’s ambassador program. We attend several events such as Panther’s pep rallies, local school’s wellness fairs, South Park’s Movies Under the Stars to name a few. At each event, we are able to inform the community about CHS health services and educate families on the 5-2-1-0 campaign that focuses on increasing fruit/vegetable servings and activity time while reducing the number of non-educational screen time and sugary beverages.
I am also a member of Charlotte Dietetics Association where I have served as a mentor for dietetic students over the last three years.
Throughout the year, I also take part in various fundraisers, 5/10ks, and canned food drives for a cause.
In the past, I was able to volunteer with Alexander Graham Middle School’s Bulldogs Matter afterschool program.
WHAT ARE YOUR HOBBIES OR INTEREST?
Some of my hobbies include cooking and hosting friends/family, running and strength-training with Females In Action, reading, playing with my dog- Ralfie, country music, Atlanta Braves & Charlotte Knights baseball, touring vineyards and wine tasting, NASCAR, and traveling.

WHERE DO YOU SEE YOURSELF IN 5 YEARS?
Within 5 years, I hope to be full-time at Transcend Nutrition Counseling and grow the business to be the top provider of corporate nutrition services in Charlotte. I also dream of becoming a certified personal trainer and yoga instructor.
CAN YOUR SHARE ONE THING THAT IS ON YOUR BUCKET LIST?
One bucket list item is to travel cross-country that peaks with watching an Atlanta Braves series on the west coast.
WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU USED YOUR PASSPORT?
2007 for Dominican Republic but it will get used again in July for Cancun!
WHAT IS A FUN FACT ABOUT YOURSELF THAT NO ONE KNOWS?
A fact about myself very little people know is that I once caught a 20-pound blue catfish on Lake Marion.
WHO IS YOUR HERO?
My heroes are our armed forces who are brave enough to defend our country, my mother for being strong enough to raise two children on her own, and my grandfather for setting an amazing example of unconditional love.
