Position: Senior Audit Manager
WHERE WERE YOU BORN?
Columbia, Missouri but I call South Carolina home.
HOW LONG HAVE YOU LIVED IN CHARLOTTE AREA?
TELL US A LITTLE BIT MORE ABOUT YOU?
I grew up outside Columbia, South Carolina and am a proud graduate of Wofford College. After attending Wake Forest University for my Masters in Accounting, I moved to Charlotte. Over the past 5 years I’ve completely fallen in love with the city and the people here. For the last three years I’ve worked in banking, auditing risk and compliance. I just changed jobs in February and now work at Citi in Fort Mill.
I may be biased but I think I have the greatest friends and family in the world. Most important, I have the most amazing little sisters, who are 10 and 12. They are my world and knowing they’re looking up to me inspires me to be a better person every single day. Plus, I’d be an incredibly bad big sister if I didn’t mention them in this because they’re pretty much the best kids you’ll ever meet (and they’re a lot cooler than me, I’ll be honest).
DURING YOUR TIME VOLUNTEERING FOR A COMMUNITY ACTIVITY OR PROJECT, WHAT IS YOUR MOST MEMORIAL MOMENT?
This past fall I chaired the Young Affiliates of the Mint’s annual fall gala, Moulin Mint. This year’s gala at the Mint Museum Uptown was the largest to-date, with about 400 attendees. At one point in the night I was able to step into the back corner by myself and watch as some of my best friends and tons of new faces enjoyed the event my vice-chair and I had worked tirelessly to plan. Seeing so many happy people at a fundraiser we organized was a moment I’ll never forget.
IN YOUR OPINION, HOW DO YOU CONTRIBUTE TO THE COMMUNITY?
I think I’m a great role model for young girls and other women in the Charlotte community who want to follow their dreams pursue multiple interests. I’ve managed to juggle building a great career in the financial services industry, dancing professionally for the Charlotte Checkers CheckMates, and volunteering with wonderful organizations for causes near and dear to my heart. I truly believe people following their passions, whatever those may be, makes this city better and I try to live by example and do that every day.
WHAT ARE YOUR HOBBIES OR INTEREST?
My hobbies and interests are pretty varied. I’ve danced my whole life and dancing with the CheckMates for two years gave me friends and memories I’m incredibly grateful for. Even though I left the team this past season, I still take dance classes as much as possible. I also am working toward completing my 200-hour yoga certification through Bella Vita Yoga. In whatever spare time I can find I enjoy working out at Madabolic and Charlotte Athletic Club, slowly trying each of the new restaurants in town on nights out with friends, and traveling as much as possible.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE QUOTE THAT YOU STAND BY?
“Life is not a dress rehearsal; life is for living.”
My grandfather used to tell my dad this when he was growing up and my dad now says this to me at least once a month. It’s always a great reminder to live life to the fullest and to not take any day for granted.
WHERE DO YOU SEE YOURSELF IN 5 YEARS?
Happy and successful, whatever those two words mean to me in 5 years.
CAN YOUR SHARE ONE THING THAT IS ON YOUR BUCKET LIST?
Taking my dad to the Super Bowl.
WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU USED YOUR PASSPORT?
I went to the Bahamas at the end of April for one of my oldest and dearest friend’s bachelorette parties.
WHAT IS A FUN FACT ABOUT YOURSELF THAT NO ONE KNOWS?
I’m terrified of riding bikes…mostly because I’m one of the clumsiest people you’ll ever meet and I’m afraid I’m going to severely injure myself every time I get on one.
WHO IS YOUR HERO?
Both my mom and my dad are my heroes. I admire my mom for raising me as a single mother who, as a strong and independent woman, always served as an amazing role model for me. She pushes me to be a better person and makes sure I never give up on my dreams. I also look up to my dad for being able to see the best in everything and for lighting up every room he enters. Every time I talk to him he makes my day better and I know he does that for almost everyone he meets. They both made me the woman I am today and I’m so lucky to have them.
WHAT WAS THE LAST BOOK YOU READ?
Re-read the Harry Potter series…I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve read it. It never gets old.
WHAT WAS THE LAST MOVIE YOU SAW?
WHAT WAS THE LAST CONCERT YOU SAW?
