WHERE WERE YOU BORN?

Honolulu, Hawaii

HOW LONG HAVE YOU LIVED IN CHARLOTTE AREA?

17 years

TELL US A LITTLE BIT MORE ABOUT YOU?

Both of my parents were in the military so I moved a lot when I was young. I have an older brother who lives in Houston and an older sister who lives in Cincinnati with her husband and my 2 year old nephew. At an early age I was diagnosed with dyslexia. This disability caused me a lot of difficulties academically and socially. I was fortunate to have parents who provided me with special schooling and tutors to help me overcome this issue. I then transitioned into public schools where I became involved in football, wrestling, and lacrosse. I attended Bradley Middle School and North Mecklenburg High School, which are both in the Lake Norman area. After high school I attended Lynchburg College in Virginia to play lacrosse. Once I finished my freshman year I transferred to University of North Carolina at Charlotte where I completed my bachelor’s degree in Accounting and a minor in Supply Chain. I currently live downtown in the Wesley Heights area.

DURING YOUR TIME VOLUNTEERING FOR A COMMUNITY ACTIVITY OR PROJECT, WHAT IS YOUR MOST MEMORIAL MOMENT?

It happened this year when I was coaching men’s lacrosse for Hough High school. I remember being on a school team and having post collegiate athletes volunteering their time to coach me. It’s inspiring to realize how things come full circle.

IN YOUR OPINION, HOW DO YOU CONTRIBUTE TO THE COMMUNITY?

I believe in more ways than one. Other coaches including myself give up our time to help grow young athletes physically and mentally. We help to keep kids from doing things they shouldn’t, keep them active, and more importantly build their character. There is a community service group within Odyssey called Project Outreach. I am on that committee along with other great individuals who volunteer their time for monthly community service projects. This year I led the partnership between the Live Awesome Flag Football Tournament and Project Outreach to provide volunteers to participate and work the tournament. Everyone in Project Outreach had a great time and we supported an honorable cause funding research for germ cell cancer. Throughout college and after I volunteer for Second Harvest Food Bank and Crisis Assistance Ministries.

WHAT ARE YOUR HOBBIES OR INTEREST?

I enjoy anything outdoors, athletic, or fitness related. I currently play for the Charlotte Lacrosse Club (CLC) which is an adult lacrosse league. The CLC runs a summer lacrosse league and we also play in tournaments across the country. Four to five times a week I strength train and power lift. I enjoy trying all the new restaurants and craft beers around Charlotte. I spend a lot of time with my amazing dog Maddie. She and I will go to parks, hiking, and walks around the city. There is a great organization called F3 (Fitness, Fellowship, & Faith) that I have been involved with for over two years.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE QUOTE THAT YOU STAND BY?

"A man can be as great as he wants to be. If you believe in yourself and have the courage, the determination, the dedication, the competitive drive and if you are willing to sacrifice the little things in life and pay the price for the things that are worthwhile, it can be done." --Vince Lombardi

WHERE DO YOU SEE YOURSELF IN 5 YEARS?

In five years I would like to be managing the entire supply chain for a major company. To achieve this goal I plan to advance my education and build upon my CSCP and Six Sigma certifications. Also my work experience has provided me with valuable skills that I will be able to apply to any future positions.
