Company: YWCA of Central Carolinas
Position: Social Worker
Charlotte, North Carolina.
A very long time.
I received my Bachelor’s degree from The University of North Carolina Charlotte’s School of Social work. (Cum laude honors) I served as president, of the Social work club, Community member of the Student council and named the 2015-2016 Charlotte Community Scholar. As the Charlotte Community Scholar, I received the opportunity to conduct a Social science research titled “Dismantling Racism: Where are you? Where is Charlotte?’ I’m a Father of two boys Owen and Asher Gaddy and Married to my best friend Melisa Gaddy.
Working weekends as a Shelter Specialist for the Men’s Shelter of Charlotte. I created a bond with many of the guest. That humbling experience as a staff member changed my life and helped me to become a well-rounded Social worker today.
I feel that I give hope, to individuals in our community that our society has given up on, I was labeled as a Child, I made mistakes as a Youth, I didn’t get into my first college of choice but today I can say that my journey and community has made me stronger. Similar to the Rose who grew from the concrete.
Spending time with my family, coaching little league Soccer, playing video games and shopping.
