WHERE WERE YOU BORN?

Detroit, Michigan.

HOW LONG HAVE YOU LIVED IN CHARLOTTE AREA?

5+ years.

TELL US A LITTLE BIT MORE ABOUT YOU?

I’ve lived in six states since graduating high school, I have a wheaten terrier named Jojo, I once ate 50 hot dogs in two days, and I’ve given myself a concussion by walking into a low doorway overhang – twice.

DURING YOUR TIME VOLUNTEERING FOR A COMMUNITY ACTIVITY OR PROJECT, WHAT IS YOUR MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT?

My little brother, through Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Carolina, gives me a new moment every week. His spirit and passion amazes me. I’ve known him for three years and there are too many great memories to pick out one.

IN YOUR OPINION, HOW DO YOU CONTRIBUTE TO THE COMMUNITY?

By being engaged and being passionate about progress. Every day presents little opportunities to make our community stronger – in our neighborhoods, around causes near to our hearts, with the people who live and work here. I try not to let those opportunities pass by. I’m not moving mountains, but I hope doing all those little things adds up to being a valuable community member.

WHAT ARE YOUR HOBBIES OR INTEREST?

I love the active stuff: basketball, golf, tennis, running and the gym. I’m a homeowner and I nerd out on things like dry walling and replacing hot water heaters. I’m an eating enthusiast as well, which has turned me into a cooking enthusiast – especially overly elaborate breakfasts.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE QUOTE THAT YOU STAND BY?

“I learned this, at least, by my experiment: that if one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavors to live the life which he has imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours.” ― Henry David Thoreau, Walden.

WHERE DO YOU SEE YOURSELF IN 5 YEARS?

In good mental and physical health, around people I care for (and who care for me), pursuing new and old passions, continuing to work and learn – all in Charlotte, of course.

CAN YOU SHARE ONE THING THAT IS ON YOUR BUCKET LIST?

Write a book.

WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU USED YOUR PASSPORT?

Last week, to book a trip with friends to Tokyo and Bangkok.

WHAT IS A FUN FACT ABOUT YOURSELF THAT NO ONE KNOWS?

I won the 2006 MTV Panama City Beach Spring Break Hula Hoop Contest.

WHO IS YOUR HERO?

No heroes, just a bunch of great family and mentors.
