Position: Co-Founder & CMO
I grew up in Red Wing, Minnesota home of the Red Wing Boots. I have been playing hockey since I was 4 years old. I grew up with the best friend group anyone could ask for, two of which are now with me in leadership positions at 2ULaundry.
We all separated after high school graduation and I attended the University of Minnesota seeking a business degree. My family still resides in parts of Minnesota but majority live near the beach in Florida.
In August of 2015, my best friend (now co-founder), convinced me to quit my job, break the lease on my house, pack up my Jeep, and move to Charlotte to get started on what is now 2ULaundry. I haven’t looked back ever since.
Sophomore year of college, I volunteered as a camp counselor for the local YMCA. On the first day, the kids look up to you immediately and by the end, they see you as a big brother or sister. To me, that was rewarding. I was leading by example to ultimately impact the lives of those around me. Based on my actions during that summer, I feel as though I impacted over 100+ campers.
I strongly feel as though I empower my company to contribute to the community organically. One of our values at 2ULaundry is “do good, while doing well.” We do this in many ways.
One of the most powerful impacts to me is employment. Part of the motivation for me is providing jobs for those in my community. In just over a year, 2ULaundry has provided jobs for over 40+ Charlotteans…and that’s only growing.
Second, going back to “do good, while doing well”, Alex and I have always wanted to give back to the communities we work with. Three months into starting, we launched the Spring Clean CLT campaign where we partnered with local homeless shelters to bring them donated clothing. Success to us was just a couple bags since we were so small, but the community here rallies together like I’ve never seen before and we ended up receiving over 5,000 lbs. of donated clothing.
We wanted to do it again. So in December of 2016 (our year anniversary), we launched the Winter Warmup. We partnered directly with the Crisis Assistance Ministry of Charlotte with a goal of donating 10,000 lbs. of winter essentials for those in need. After two weeks, we received 17,000 lbs. of new and used winter essentials. I was not surprised by the support from our local community. We need to keep these initiatives going and I can promise this is something you will continue to see with 2ULaundry.
Lastly, I truly believe we are impacting our daily customers lives by our mission…giving people time back so they can do what matters most in life. 2ULaundry is on a path to becoming a household name here in Charlotte and I will not stop until we get there.
This is cliche, but I just like being outside. Charlotte has a lot of great places to be outside. Crowders, Whitewater Center, rail trail, etc. When I used to have time (and money), I liked to play golf a lot. Can’t wait for Top Golf to open! I’m also on two rec basketball teams; it’s a great workout.
“Become a better version of yourself everyday”.
I see myself continuing to co-lead 2ULaundry to becoming a household name nationwide. It’s going to take a lot of small wins, perseverance and having the right people around the table to get us there. That is what I want to focus on for the next 5 years.
Another cliché answer here…travel the world.
