Company: Stephen Cooley Real Estate Group
Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
I am the oldest of a younger brother and sister. One of my favorite childhood memories is playing on the beach in Florida with my family. Once we relocated to Charlotte, I got involved with school sports (football in particular) at a high level. I’m very passionate about real estate, which is why I love my job. I believe owning a home is the best building block for a family. I am a firm believer in affirmations—I have notes everywhere to remind myself that every day is special and my life is purposeful!
When I held open houses during the month of May, we donated $5 to the Humane Society for every adult that walked in. Knowing that this money was going to help animals live and find safe homes was a wonderful memory.
I really love helping and training my little brother’s football team—running routes and teaching how them to handle certain situations. I like to take the time to work with each of them one on one so they can understand the sport better, and in turn this makes them better players.
Real Estate takes up a lot of my time but in my spare time, I love to hike and I also love to travel. The best trip is when I can combine both of those activities! I also enjoy spending time with my family especially my mom. I am reminded daily that life is so short and that we most make the most out of every moment, so I do what I can do spend that time with family.
“Do your little bit of good where you are; it’s those little bits of good put together that overwhelm the world.” ~Desmond Tutu.
Five years from now, I would like to think that I am still building a foundation for a solid real estate career built on hard work, integrity and excellent customer service. If you would have asked me about 10 years from now, I would say, “Mayor of Charlotte!”.
Travel to all of the Caribbean islands.
I used my passport to go to Puerto Rico only to learn that you don’t need it to go there! I still used it as ID at the airport. I hope that I have a stamp from Greece on it before the end of 2017.
I hate bugs. Small bugs, big bugs. But all bugs are not my friends. Its embarrassing so I tell no one…well now everyone will know!
I have several role models—I find inspiration in everyone, from the homeless to the wealthy from the uneducated to the highly educated. But as far as ONE hero, it would have to be my mom. She raised me to be a giving and caring person—my compassion is all thanks to her. She was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. She has had to leave her family and relocate with her job in order to keep her health insurance. She is 1000 miles away from us, but she still fulfills her role as a wife and mother at a high level. It’s an honor to be her son and I know that because of her I am the man that I am today. I feel very lucky to be able to personally know my hero and to call her “mom”.
The Go-Giver by Bob Burg. It was given to me by a co-worker. It’s a little story about a powerful business idea. My favorite quote from the book is “Your income is determined by how many people you serve and how well you serve them”.
The Shack. It moved me beyond words and it brought a whole new prospective for me on my personal relationship with God.
