My first degree is in math, and I originally moved to Charlotte to teach high school math and coach basketball, but I decided to go back to school in hopes of pursuing a job in sports reporting. Luckily, I got an internship while in broadcasting school at WBTV and then worked my way up from part-time editor, to part-time sports reporter and now to a full-time employee working as the weekend sports anchor and reporter.

DURING YOUR TIME VOLUNTEERING FOR A COMMUNITY ACTIVITY OR PROJECT, WHAT IS YOUR MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT?

One moment that really stands out is repelling off the top of the Hyatt House to raise money for the Special Olympics.

IN YOUR OPINION, HOW DO YOU CONTRIBUTE TO THE COMMUNITY?

One of the biggest ways that I contribute to the community is by telling the people’s stories who live here. I have the opportunity to cover everything from local to professional sports, and I am able to interview athletes, coaches, and teams in the community that are trying to make a difference. I also enjoy lending my voice to different causes ranging from emceeing the Iredell-Statesville Heart Ball to speaking at the inaugural Pink Mentor Network event for women of all ages. In my spare time, I also enjoy volunteering.

WHAT ARE YOUR HOBBIES OR INTEREST?

Sports! I love all types of sports, and I’m fortunate enough to get to cover sports for a living. I also love playing them! I enjoy music and going to concerts, and I love being outdoors! I also enjoy reading a good book and most importantly spending time with family and friends.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE QUOTE THAT YOU STAND BY?

Two things define you. Your patience when you have nothing, & your attitude when you have everything.

WHERE DO YOU SEE YOURSELF IN 5 YEARS?

In 5 years I see myself still being a sports anchor and reporter.

CAN YOUR SHARE ONE THING THAT IS ON YOUR BUCKET LIST?

I feel like I get to live out part of my bucket list through my job from the sporting events we cover to the interviews we do. There’s never a dull moment! However, one thing that is on my bucket list is to take a hot air balloon ride through the Grand Canyon.

WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU USED YOUR PASSPORT?

The last time I used my passport was a few years ago to go to Jamaica for my cousin’s wedding. It was a great vacation with lots of family time in a place none of us had been to before!

WHAT IS A FUN FACT ABOUT YOURSELF THAT NO ONE KNOWS?

I love listening to music on the record player! In my opinion, nothing beats vinyl.
